Early Voting Has Started in Vigo County. Who’s Running? Where to Vote?


Honey Creek Mall is open for early voting in Terre Haute, Vigo County 10AM-6PM

The 2019 Municipal General Election is on Nov. 5th.

All registered Voters in Terre Haute/Vigo County can vote on that day or early voting has also started and is available Right Now at Honey Creek Mall from 10AM-6PM or at the Vigo County Annex on 1st and Oak. 

Honey Creek Mall voting is Monday-Friday 10Am-6PM Sat Oct.22 and Nov.2. 

Vigo County Annex voting is Monday-Friday 8AM-4PM  Sat Oct. 26 and Sat. Nov. 2

Several more voting centers open on Oct. 29th. and they are:

  • IBEW Local #725  5675 E Hulman Drive
  • National Guard Armory  3614 Maple Avenue
  • Operating Engineers   6801 S US HWY 41
  • Vigo County Solid Waste   3230 E Haythorne Ave
  • Seelyville Town Hall   2299 W Main St

 All Vigo County Voters will have 2 referendums on the ballot

  1. Shall Inland Casino Gambling be Permitted in Vigo County   Y/N
  2. Vigo County School Corporation Tax Levy   Y/N

City residents will get to Vote for Mayor (vote for 1)

  1. Duke Bennett (the incumbent Mayor of Terre Haute for 12years)
  2. Karrum Nasser (current city council member)
  3. Pat Goodwin ( former city engineer)

City Clerk is running unopposed so Michelle Edwards will get another 4 yrs.

Terre Haute City Judge Matthew Sheehan is running unopposed so he will be the new city Judge.

City Council At Large is open to all city residents and you may vote for up to 3

  1. Steven Neice ( challenger )
  2. George Azar (current council member)
  3. Tammy Boland (current council member)
  4. Curtis DeBaun IV ( current council member)
  5. James Rodenberger (challenger)

Terre Haute City Council for Districts 1, 4, 5, 6 are all running unopposed so they will retain their seat on the city council

  • District 1 will reelect Amy Auler
  • District 4 will reelect Todd Nation
  • District 5 will reelect Neil Garrison
  • District 6 will reelect Martha Crossen

Terre Haute City Council District 2 has three candidates running for the council seat.  This district covers the eastern side of the city.  You can vote for only 1

  1. Diana Winsted-Smith
  2. O. Earl Elliot (current council member)
  3. Sarah Dillon

District 3 covers the northeast part of the city.  If you live in the district you can vote for 1 of the following

  1. Bill Treadway (current TH board of zoning member)
  2. Cheryl Loudermilk ( current deputy Vigo County Auditor…that’s property taxes)

All city council members used to earn $14,165 dollars a year for the work they put in to being a council member.  That figure should go up $566 next year after the council voted to give all City Employee’s a 4% raise.

TerreHauteNews.net asked one life long resident of Terre Haute what he thought about the election. He said he plans to vote early on his day off because it’s easier. He also said that it was great to see new names and new faces in the local elections. “Some other towns seem to always have the same names showing up over and over again for different things”. He’s very glad this area is not like this.
