Covid-19 continues to surge in the Wabash Valley. The milder omicron variant is keeping the death toll from exploding.
The number of people with the one-nine (Covid) in Terre Haute should shatter all records again today.
Business around Vigo County are struggling to stay open. Essential services are strained and schools are on the verge of shutdown due to staffing problems.

Individuals that have received 2 doses of Moderna or Pfizer and a booster are generally reporting mild cold or flu like symptoms or none at all. Serious illness, hospitalization, and death from Covid-19 is extremely low for those that have been vaccinated and received a booster.
Wondering if you can get the Vaccine when you arrive at the Emergency Room crying that you are sick and feel terrible? Answer: No. It’s too late. Fortunately, Terre Haute has a great public health system and Everyone is ENTITLED to life saving health care.
Those Covid patients that need ICU care will get a bed, they will get a ventilator, even as todays updated number will reveal a record breaking day for Covid and testing grinds to a bare minimum from a shortage of testing supplies.

Health Care providers have continued to ask area residents to help them battle Covid-19 by getting vaccinated.
Reluctance remains high among many in Terre Haute and Vigo County.
Depending which stats are used, Vigo County remains around 50% fully vaccinated. Many residents site the unproven science as the main concern for not wanting to get the vaccine.

A Constitution Right to get sick/ A Constitution Right for Public Health to Provide?
Supposedly, face masks may still slow the spread the latest Covid variant, Omicron:
The latest research suggest that cloth face mask do very little. They will help prevent the spread of Omicron from an infected person when they cough, sneeze, talk, sing, etc. However, once those virus particles are in the air, an N95 mask is allegedly the only type that offers the “wearer” any protection. Wearing a mask seems to be better at stopping people from giving Covid than they are at preventing people from catching Covid.
In Vigo County, Everyone has the right to not wear a mask and is supported by local government.
It is up to those around you to buy and wear a N95 mask if they want protection.
The CDC and Vigo County Commissioners seem to be odds on how to reduce the strain to Health Care in the area.
UPDATED GUIDANCE
The CDC recently updated its guidance for quarantine and isolation.
Consider this quarantine option if you need a little extra incentive
to make the decision to get vaccinated:
• If you are a close contact of someone with COVID-19, you do
not need to quarantine if you have received all of the
vaccination doses you are eligible to receive. You should wear
a mask around others for 10 days after the exposure.
Please note that close contacts should get tested five days after
contact. If you test positive or develop COVID-19 symptoms, isolate
from other people and follow other isolation recommendations.
